Living in an Apartment with Dogs

Living in an Apartment with Dogs
Living in a smaller space such as an apartment or condo with multiple dogs can be a struggle, but patience is the key to making the whole experience worth it!

Training your dog is important. Living in a smaller space such as an apartment or condo with multiple dogs can be a struggle, but patience is the key to making the whole experience worth it!

Energy Levels

Dogs are by nature curious and playful. These qualities are especially true of puppies, who are still learning how to coexist with others in their environment and what everything is! For the more energetic dogs, leaving them alone in your apartment while you go off to work can be a source of anxiety. Make sure to exercise them and help work off that extra energy! You can order a treadmill custom-built for your pup to help them. Also, make sure to walk them as often as you, and since spring is coming, it will be better for you and your doggy!

Being Neighborly

However, many dogs are also protective of their humans. It is in their nature to have stranger danger, but this means you have to teach them how to be considerate neighbors. Everything the light touches isn’t theirs.  Help your pooch learn that barking too much is bad manners. Some lucky pet owners are even able to teach their dogs how to bark more quietly unless something is really wrong. Use treats, praise and excitement to reinforce good behavior and help them learn it faster!

Potty Training

Speaking of positive reinforcement, it is even more important when it’s time for potty training. Look for grass just outside of your unit or designated pet relief areas – if you use these areas, make sure you clean up after your pets! Artificial grass and real grass are both better options than puppy pads, but if you want to housebreak your dogs, then you might need to invest in these pads as well.
